This just in: Kobe Bryant is a baddd man!

As a LA Lakers fan, its time for me to say enough MJ nostalgic posts.

Kobe may not ever be as good as MJ, or maybe he will, or maybe he is, but Kobe Bryant is a true master of his craft.

Nobody has worked harder, to be better, than Kobe Bryant is at basketball.

He has every weapon in his arsenal, and there isn't anything he's not great at.

Whether you like him or you don't, you can't deny there aren't many people who are as good at one thing as Kobe Bryant is at basketball.

Sport can be art, and when somebody makes putting a ball in a net looks so pretty it should be recognized.

Obsession

And this is a weird one I know.

Lately, I've been obsessed with club sandwiches.

I have no idea where this craving came from, although if I had to guess it may have come from watching repeated Mad Men episodes that featured diners and club sandwiches. Anyway, that's all I could come up with.

What's really weird, is that it had been like years since I last ordered one, until this past Sunday.

I must say the the taste of the turkey, and the inherent smoky salty flavor of the bacon, are quite the pair.

It's good washed down with water, with Coca-Cola, hell it's even good with a cup of crappy diner coffee.

Here's to the club sandwich!

Iconic

To be quite honest, and it may seem the contrary on this blog, but I really don't like Michael Jordan that much.

My favorite player is Kobe Bryant, and my favorite team is the Lakers.

But there's no denying how iconic some of Jordan's moments are, and goddamn those shoes were/are sooo cool!

LeBron, Nike, and advertising

Nike has been making brilliant, artistic, and sometimes controversial ads since I was born.

They continuously put a large amount of originality and production value into all of their spots.

LeBron James' new Nike commercial is no different.

The fallout, from LeBron's "decision" this summer, has not been good, so of course Nike had to come up with something clever to "repair" his image. I guess you could call this apologizing by saying "eff you if you don't like me."

Great ad though. I love how LeBron takes some shots at some of Nike's biggest guns i.e. Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan.



And if you're not familiar with some of Nike's past ads here's a taste.

Nike Football's "Fate" ad, directed by David Fincher...yes the dude who just directed The Social Network, and previously Fight Club.

Nike's "Courage" commercial, right before the '08 Olympics. Gives me chills every time.

The Air Jordan XXI commercial. It features a bunch of people, everywhere, imitating all of Jordan's most famous moves, showing just how iconic these moments have become. Seriously, this may be the best TV ad ever.

There's a whole bunch of reasons whey these are all so brilliant, but the common thread is that they appeal to everybody. Nike is pretty crafty in appealing to the child, the primal instinct, the woman, the man, the competitor in us all. They work so well, because they make the athletes us, and us the athletes.

Helluva way to sell some sneakers right?

I'm always talking about Mad Men on this blog, and I realize that you guys have no idea what I'm really talking about. In light of that, I decided to do something about it. Perhaps I can "sell" you on the show?

Ohhhhh Don

Tonight was Mad Men's season finale, and it left me really really troubled.

Not like troubled because of my life, but because I want to know where these characters--especially Don Draper--are going to be, in what will presumably be 1966.

I don't want to spoil anything for those who don't watch, but if you want to chat about this we can do so in the comment section.

So much I want to talk about.

Feel good swag

Today was fun. It feels pretty cool to wear a suit all day, and it was nice to be given the honor of Godparent.

It was also cool to catch up with old friends.

Going to a baptism

So on Sunday I'm off to the baptism of Kylee Turner, the daughter of my friend Kaleya Turner.

Despite not having been to Mass in quite some time, I'm actually really excited to be going. Besides the fact that I was given the honor of being a Godparent, one of the reasons I'm so excited to go is that I get to wear a suit.

I'm sure that sounded weird, but as an unemployed 25 year old, it isn't often that I get to wear one. Hell nobody wears them nowadays.

Personally, there might be something wrong with that idea, but to each his own.

The reason I'm writing this though, is that I'm sort of at odds with wearing my "good suit."

I own two suits, one is a sort of charcoal gray, and the other is black. The gray one I bought when the details of fine tailoring were a wash to me. Suffice to say that it doesn't come close to actually "fitting."

The black one, I had every inch of tailored. It fits impeccably, and although its cheap as hell, it certainly doesn't look it.

Anyway, I'm a bit at odds with wearing a black suit to a baptism.

For one, it's in the day, and two, it's a baptism and not a funeral. I feel like gray, or blue, would certainly be more appropriate, because I definitely don't want to look in mourning.

However, I'd rather wear something that fits than something that looks ridiculous, so black it shall be.

If you see me on Sunday, I'm not going to a formal event, nor am I one of the clergymen, and I won't be in mourning.
